Autism Who Knew (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect on autismwhoknew.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, please contact us — see Contact at the end.

Who we are

Autism Who Knew is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity. Our mission is to inform, educate, encourage, and empower people affected by autism, with a focus on the Caribbean and minority communities.

What information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, plus limited technical information needed to run the site.

  • Contact form. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you send, so we can reply.
  • Donations. Donations are processed by a secure third-party payment processor. That processor collects the details needed to complete your gift (for example name, email, billing address, and payment card details). We do not see or store your full payment card number. We may receive a record of your name, email, and donation amount so we can thank you and send a receipt.
  • Email sign-ups (if you opt in). If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address.
  • Technical information. Like most websites, our host and any analytics tools may automatically log basic information such as your browser type, device, and pages visited. This helps us keep the site working and understand what content is useful.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • respond to your questions and messages;
  • process donations and send receipts and thank-you messages;
  • send updates only if you have opted in, and let you unsubscribe at any time;
  • maintain the security and performance of our website; and
  • meet our legal and nonprofit reporting obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate — for example our website host and our payment processor — and only as needed to provide their service; and
  • Authorities, if the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

Our site may use cookies and basic analytics to remember preferences and understand site usage. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work fully if you disable them.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. Donation payments are handled over encrypted connections by our payment processor. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (for example, donation records for tax and reporting).

Your choices and rights

You may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or delete it; and
  • unsubscribe from emails at any time.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Children’s privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with an updated “Last updated” date.
